Naz and Mezhgan have been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, mastering everything from event management to food and beverage services at a Fortune 500 hotel. “Our combined experience has enabled us to engage our customers and build a loyal following,” said Naz. In 2012 the sisters decided that it was time for them to jump out on their own and put their passion for homemade cuisine for the public to enjoy. “We didn’t see any other restaurant like ours in the area, and we were sure that the combination of wonderful, unique tastes along with treating everyone like family would be a success and a fulfilling adventure.” So Chaman Kabob was born, bringing Afghan cuisine with a fusion twist to Brentwood.

Afghan food is inspired by Mediterranean, Chinese, Indian and Persian cultures. “Often times first-time customers ask us what a kabob is,” said Naz. “We love to explain the inspiration behind the food and see people’s eyes light up.” Chaman Kabob’s menu consists of homemade recipes with a little twist, complete with savory spices and delightful food choices that really allow people to experience old recipes and new flavors. “From kabobs to rice dishes and mouth-watering appetizers, no one will leave hungry from Chaman Kabob. They will be satisfied and ready to come back again soon.” Popular dishes include chicken kabob and tekka kabob, which is marinated chunks of steak. Patrons also love the lamb shank, chicken korma, and the build your own Chaman wrap where you can pick your favorite meat(s), add your own veggies, wrapped with fresh house made naan, then add extra bursts of flavor with hummus, a three-cheese blend, potatoes, and more. Chaman Kabob offers a variety of vegetarian and vegan options as well.

The sisters continuously evolve their menu items and concepts. “The thought process behind keeping things fresh comes from the creativity of our brother Abdullah who is the chef and learned to cook at age 9, and our mom, who is an amazing cook,” said Naz. “Through trial and tastes, some recipes can be enhanced, while entirely new dishes are also created with a blend of this or dash of that. We like to keep our customers asking for more.” The trio takes pride in treating customers like family, putting energy, passion, and attention to detail into everything they do. “We really feel as though our food quality and presentation is second to none.”

As local residents, Naz and Mezhgan give back to their community by hosting fundraisers, luncheons for first responders, and working with local schools whenever possible. “We want to encourage our communities to continue to support small businesses and continue making our communities stronger together,” said Naz. “We serve our customers proudly and love being able to share our love of delicious food and cultural delights with those who frequent our restaurant, as well as those who are brand new.”
