When did you open Sunshine Donuts 2?

Almost 7 years ago.

What was your inspiration?

My inspiration was to have a peaceful environment for my customers and for myself. I want Sunshine Donuts 2 to be a place where people are welcomed and can relax. One of my customers recently told me that this is their new favorite place to come. I met one of my goals when I heard that, and it made me feel really happy.

 

Why donuts?

When I came to the United States, I had a dream to someday open my own shop. I worked in some donut stores to learn the craft of making donuts and how to run a donut store. A few opportunities came up for me to purchase a store but I declined them because they were not in the right city, they were too far away, or I didn’t like the store. Eventually, the opportunity for me to purchase this donut store in Brentwood became available. It was the best shop and place for me. I like the Brentwood community and smaller town feel. My husband learned to make donuts, and he now serves as the master donut maker. As time went by, we wanted to be the best donut shop around. So, we saved for years until we had the funds to hire a local contractor who remodeled the store based upon our hopes, feelings, and vision for this donut shop. What we want to offer to people is a place to enjoy our donuts and for them to get away from the pressures that we are all under these days. Besides a peaceful and beautiful environment to come into, we specialize in the art of making the perfect donut, not frozen but fresh every day!

What are the different varieties that you offer?

We offer raised, cake, French crullers, old-fashioned, custard and jelly donuts, cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, and much more. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, we also offer buttermilk donuts and chocolate cake donuts.

Besides donuts, we also offer breakfast sandwiches, and soon to be introduced, lunch sandwiches that are made fresh every day. Our drinks are also made with the best ingredients for coffees, teas, iced coffees, etc. In our large refrigerator, we carry energy drinks, Gatorades, juices, milks, and more.

 

 

Which ones are the most popular?

The most popular donuts are glazed, chocolate, old-fashioned (glazed, chocolate, maple, vanilla, plain), maple bars, and apple fritters, to name a few.

What makes your business stand out from others?

We offer excellent fresh donuts (made daily). What further sets us apart is that we are not just a donut shop; we also serve freshly hand-made breakfast and lunch meals. I’m truly excited that we offer a clean and inviting environment and friendly customer service. It’s a joyful store to visit. We’ve recently remodeled Sunshine Donuts 2 to create an even better experience for our customers.

 

 

 

We’re excitedly developing a menu of seasonal donuts to surprise our customers during the holidays. We are also working on a plan to host events at the store. We want this to be a place that reaches out to schools, churches, the city, and others with whom we can partner to add a great experience to Brentwood and its community. That is my biggest goal but also my greatest desire.

 

 

It’s safe, quiet, and friendly with diverse people, and great weather. I feel that I can grow with this type of city. There is a hometown feeling here.
