The Craft Room Brentwood

When did you open The Craft Room & what was your inspiration?

My business was originally called Strung Out By Shelly, but I decided to expand and rename it The Craft Room, which opened on February 22. I was inspired by our community! I have had so many loyal string art customers over the last couple years, and I felt like I could offer MORE!

What is the meaning behind the name?

With my last business, my name put me in a box. I didn't feel like I could branch out and do other things. The Craft Room covers everything!

What does your business offer?

I will have craft classes for people of all ages. There will be a '5 & under' class that will usually consist of story time and a craft. Then I will have after school classes for kindergarten and up. I will offer all sorts of different projects: string art, dream catchers, bedroom decor, fairy houses, and more! Last but not least, I will offer adult night classes, a perfect way to unwind with friends and family at the end of the week. (Most adult classes will be Friday & Saturday nights.) Again, I will be covering all types of projects: string art, sign making, hand lettering, wreath making, pallet art, and so much more.

How does The Craft Room stand out from other "similar" businesses?

I heard a great phrase today, and I believe it wholeheartedly. "Community over competition." I know that there are other art and/or craft studios in the area, and I think we all offer something unique, whether it's the projects we offer or our personalities. I happen to specialize in string art and love bringing people together to create something special they can keep forever. I love that Brentwood is so artistic and there is something for everyone!

Any plans/changes for 2019?

This year is going to be unforgettable, that I'm sure of! From a business perspective, everything will be different, and I can't wait to see what's in store!
