The Vault Dance Co

Not Your Average Studio

When did you open The Vault Dance Company?

As a Senior at Liberty High School, I (Cruz Conde) made the courageous decision to open up a dance studio as soon as I could, right when I turned 18, two months after graduating in 2017. Using my education that I acquired from the wonderful teachers at Liberty, I was able to open my company within one day and start working within the next three weeks. We just celebrated five years in business in Brentwood, and we can’t wait for the next five years to come!

What was your inspiration behind opening a dance studio?

Growing up in the Brentwood area, I noticed that dance studios only offered the same thing: a competition team or a recreational class with a recital that was overpriced. I feel like that didn’t fill the bucket that a lot of performers had. My goal with TVDC was to create a place for dancers who wanted to become the best they could be without the limitations of finances or a level deficit as a dancer holding them back. The idea behind TVDC was a dream of dancers being able to truly be the star, each and every one of them. I wanted a place that oozed creativity and was home to kind and caring dancers who had fun doing what they loved. I also wanted to be able to offer a higher level of training from the best in the dance industry, and that’s exactly what we offer to the community. In March of 2020, we finally were able to open up our doors to our very own dance complex: The Vault Dance Co. We are a state-of-the-art dance studio with full theater stage lighting, incredible dance floors, and an aesthetic that matches that of a Hollywood backlot.

What types of classes/camps do you offer?

We offer three class levels: our Training Classes, Team Classes and Company Classes. During August through December, dancers can train in all styles from Jazz and Tap to Hip Hop and Tumbling, along with our specialty classes like K-Pop Covers, Stretch and Flexibility, Waacking 101, Performance Training (Singing/Dancing and Acting Classes) or Conditioning classes. At the same time our Performing Company is under way prepping for the big performances of the season and our Summer Slam Dance Festival held yearly at the Heritage High School theater. In January our Hip Hop Teams begin and our Training Classes now become our Hip Hop Teams that get to perform in the Summer Slam Dance Festival alongside the TVDC Company Dancers, The Women of TVDC (our Adult Women’s Company), The Showstoppers (our 4-6 year old group) and myself, the Owner and Director.

What level of dancer would be ideal for your classes?

We offer classes for dancers of all ages, nationalities, cultures, levels and backgrounds from ages four to 104! We always encourage any dancer out there to try TVDC out for yourself and feel the TVDC experience. Whether you’re a beginner or advanced, we have a class for you!

What makes TVDC special?

The Vault Dance Company is like nothing you have ever seen before, but it truly is everything you have ever wanted in your dance experience. It’s a place for dancers to train at a level that speaks to the heart and keeps you feeling successful every single class. TVDC is a continued dream coming to fruition every single day! It’s so exciting, and if you get that opportunity to be a part of it, we thank you and look forward to many more memories and your growth as a dancer! Come try it for yourself and feel the TVDC difference.

East County Performing Arts Center

Excellence in Dance

When did you open East County Performing Arts Center?

I opened in August of 2002.

What was your inspiration behind opening a dance studio?

I knew I wanted to open a studio when I was six years old. Even from that very young age I knew what a special place the dance studio was. I started assisting classes when I was 11 and teaching my own classes at 13 years old. I essentially grew up seeing the impact dance had on kids. It's not just about learning dance steps; kids learn life skills like perseverance, commitment, and confidence. Being a dancer, I was limited on how many kids I could impact. However, owning a studio and hiring staff that have the same core values we, as a team, can impact so many more kids. Growing up dancing shaped me into the person I am today, and I want all kids to grow with that kind of positive influence.

What types of classes/camps do you offer?

We offer tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, acrobatics, lyrical, musical theater, vocal, Mini and Me Music, themed 6-week sessions, one-day camps, themed week-long camps, Competition Team, and non-competitive Performance Company. We are also the only studio in Brentwood to have an in-house ballet company, The Ballet Company of East County, and each year we produce a full-scale Nutcracker. Whether your dancer is ready for a full year commitment or just a "small bite," we have a program for you!

What level of dancer would be ideal for your classes?

We are the studio dancers can grow with. Our classes start very young, some as young as 18 months old, and run through the professional level. We have many dancers who have been part of our program for 10-15 years. The ideal age to start depends on the child. Some kids are ready to start at two and some not until five or six. Whenever you choose to start your child in an activity, give it some time before you decide if it's right for them.

What makes ECPAC special?

We are a licensed More Than Just Great Dancing™ studio. We're committed to the highest level of teaching and best business practices, but also remembering the reason we even have a studio is to positively impact the lives of each kid that walks through our doors.

Tutu School of Brentwood

Teaching Confidence, Coordination and Creativity

When did you open Tutu School?

The first Tutu School opened in 2012 in San Francisco, and now has grown into a collection of boutique ballet schools across the US and Canada. Tutu School Brentwood opened in August 2020.

What was your inspiration behind opening a dance studio?

Tutu School was born out of a dream to provide a creative dance education experience for children, and a place where students would be urged to fully exercised their imaginations as well as their bodies. Whatever dreams your child ends up dreaming, the skills young dancers develop with us – confidence, coordination, and creativity – will help to chase them!

What types of classes/camps do you offer?

Tutu School offers ballet classes, camps (multiple days and one day camps), and birthday parties for children ages 18 months to 8 years old.

What makes Tutu School special?

The founding principle of Tutu School is this: that every child must know what it feels like to dance. Our goal is to provide toddlers and young children with a storybook introduction to ballet they will never forget! We believe that motor skill development is infinitely enhanced by Tchaikovsky and Bach, that young imaginations benefit immensely from exploring the enchanted worlds of swans and sugar plums, and that twirling should be a fundamental part of any childhood.
